ONWARD AND UPWARD!

“Those who are lifting the world upward and onward are those who encourage more than criticize.” — Elizabeth Harrison

Dear PWA members, partners, and friends,

Over the last two years, I personally found it challenging to interact.  It is wonderful to see PWA community gathering in-person once again. Did you know that social interaction is important to scientific and career success? Hence, I look forward to reconnecting with you all.

As we emerge from this time of relative isolation, we should be conscious of how to be a community that is ready, willing, and able to build back together.

As we emerge from this time of relative isolation, we should be conscious of how to be a community that is ready, willing, and able to build back together. Being kind and respectful to one another permits constructive dialogue and creates a welcoming, inclusive community. I was delighted to meet the members of the Board & team in person recently the 2nd of April, to openly share our challenges and achievements together.

We live in an age where technology is shaping the way people live and work.

This week, it was wonderful to have the opportunity to meet and enjoy a networking aperitif while exchanging lessons learned over the years.  We live in an age where technology is shaping the way people live and work. From automation and artificial intelligence to team collaboration, leadership and social media, digitalization is creating unique expectations from all of us. I was overwhelmed with the stories of dedication, resilience, and kindness, and enjoyed catching up with many of these amazing people in the PWA community.

True to our mission it’s worth celebrating our efforts, now overcoming the #gendergap in the world of work is now a closer goal thanks to the approval & publication of UNI / PdR 125: 2022 on gender certification. As PWA president and representative, I’m proud of our active collaboration with Inclusione Donna which has led to this great result among other key associations like ValoreD, and AICEO.

Moreover let’s celebrate our Role model members, Cristina Di Silvio, Dimitra Mazaraki, Dulce Casadiego, Barbara Pepponi, Bruna Campagna, Anna Ghergo, Chiara Appoloni, Lucia Fulvi, Elena Palloni, Monica Carcò, and Cecilia Sandroni. PWA role models inspire others with an upbeat, optimistic outlook on life, showing commitment to the desired goal, and are willing to invest the necessary time and effort to achieve success. They don’t give up easily and they persevere when confronted by obstacles.
