One of the words that will recur frequently in 2020 will be “resilience”: after the dramatic events that are changing our way of living, we will need to discuss how to deal with crises but also to analyse our ability to adapt.
Experts from the Stockholm Resilience Center define resilience as the capacity of a system, be it an individual, a forest, a city or an economy, to deal with change and continue to develop. It shows how humans and nature can use shocks and disturbances like a financial crisis or climate change to spur renewal and innovative thinking. In this way, crisis seems a source of unleashed opportunities.
If we change the glasses with which we usually observed the world and try to find alternative solutions to the problems and challenges that await us, it will be easier to think about the future in a different way.
